Following the launch of the SDR TPMET SM call for projects, the S.M.A.R.T. Tourism program generated a great deal of interest, attracting over 1,190 applications from all over the Souss Massa region. Men and women, young and not-so-young, submitted their applications with high-quality ideas, resulting in a rich and relevant range of projects.

Numerous site visits were organized so that the SDR TPMET team could get to grips with some of the pre-selected projects. These on-site visits are of vital importance when it comes to assessing the feasibility of a project. In addition to the information provided by the applicants, SDR TPMET was able to draw up a brief diagnosis of the projects, their potential, their constraints and the specific characteristics of the location and any impact these might have on the projects.

On Wednesday, June 07, 2023, SDR TPMET organized a workshop, led by Mr. Bruno DELMAS founder of ELLOHA (service provider in charge of the marketing platform), to present to tourism sector professionals the new marketing platform for tourism TPMEs in the Agadir Souss Massa destination.

The SDR TPME has launched an unprecedented call for projects designed to provide the region’s tourism SMEs with strategic support, high-performance turnkey tools and investment support in the form of subsidies or investment grants. The program focuses primarily on innovative projects in the following tourism sectors: entertainment and leisure, accommodation, catering, travel agencies, tourist transport, guiding, sport and well-being. However, projects related to entertainment and leisure will be given priority.

The first vocational training cycle began on February 3, 2023, and welcomed around 100 participants. This cycle marked the launch of a series of cycles that will enrich the TPMET RDC’s offering for regional tourism. Participants had the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of top-level professionals in specific fields. These experts shared their tourism know-how and best practices with participants.

SDR TPMET has signed a contract with Elloha, one of the world’s top 5 start-ups specialized in the digitalization of tourism and selected by the World Tourism Organization.

Staycations generally attract a clientele in their twenties and forties who are looking for something new and different, but don’t want to tire themselves out with a trip to another city. The accommodations offered by staycations are generally unusual, inspiring places or luxury hotels offering a full range of services.

Experts from the Grant Thornton/Exen Consulting/Corporate Value Advisory consortium, which is supporting SDR TPMET SM, attended several meetings to gather information on existing specifications in the tourism sector, with a view to providing support and follow-up to meet the expectations of the future entrepreneurs selected in the S.M.A.R.T. program. From January to March 2023, SDR TPMET and representatives of its partner engineering firm visited all the prefectures and provinces of the Souss Massa region: Tata, Tiznit, Taroudant, Inezgane Ait Melloul, Chtouka Aït Baha and Agadir Ida Outanane.
