The Société de Développement Régional pour la Promotion de la Toute Petite, la Petite et la Moyenne Entreprises Touristiques du Souss Massa (SDR TPMET SM) has become a major player in tourism entrepreneurship in Morocco’s Souss Massa region.

It was created, in line with the vision of His Majesty Mohammed VI, to support very small businesses and SMEs, which make up 95% of the economic fabric of the Kingdom of Morocco. In this sense, the SME and VSE tourism sector is crucial for providing jobs and generating wealth at local and regional level.

Unfortunately, these companies were severely affected by the Covid19 pandemic. To support these businesses, a pilot project has been launched for 2022 in one of the Kingdom’s most emblematic destinations: Agadir Souss Massa. This project gave birth to SDR TPME Touristiques Souss Massa.

The SDR TPME Touristiques Souss Massa aims to diversify the tourism offering in Agadir and all the provinces of the Souss Massa region, in particular by supporting activities and innovation. It also helps to structure tourism SMEs by providing them with various strategic instruments and support policies, as well as investment support. In the new post-Covid normality, it strengthens the territorial tourism dynamic, contributes to the influence of the Agadir Souss Massa destination and promotes sustainability by enhancing the value of its tourism businesses.

At the same time, the SDR TPME touristiques Souss Massa is lobbying public authorities, in conjunction with other local players, to ensure that the needs of VSEs and SMEs are taken into account in regional and national policy-making. It is also in regular dialogue with a number of partners to facilitate access to the procedures and tools available to tourism SMEs.
