Aware of the importance of training in upgrading tourism businesses, SDR TPMET has launched a flagship project in parallel with the S.M.A.R.T. Tourism program. Tourism program. Following an inventory of the needs and expectations expressed by industry players, SDR TPMET has drawn up a training program for private-sector players, in collaboration with trade associations (CRT, CPTs, AIH, RDTR, ARAVA-SM, ARPRT-SM, ARGAT, etc.). The program is offered free of charge to practicing professionals, giving them the opportunity to benefit from cutting-edge training in tourism-related professions. It also aims to raise awareness of the S.M.A.R.T. program. Tourism program to enhance the operational excellence of tourism businesses, making them more competitive in the marketplace and more effective in promoting their activities.
The first vocational training cycle began on February 3, 2023, and welcomed around 100 participants. This cycle marked the launch of a series of cycles that will enrich the TPMET RDC’s offering for regional tourism. Participants had the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of top-level professionals in specific fields. These experts shared their tourism know-how and best practices with participants.
The first workshop was led by Miguel Seguì LLINAS, international tourism expert and full professor at the University of the Balearic Islands in Spain. He introduced participants to the new trends in the tourism industry arising from the major changes affecting tourism products and destinations worldwide. The aim was to help and encourage professionals to adapt their activities to new trends, and even to anticipate them.
The second workshop, led by Jean-Marie JACQUIER, an expert in tourism product development, focused on the development of innovative tourism products, to help regional tourism professionals familiarize themselves with some innovative tourism product development techniques.
Mr.Jean-Marie JACQUIER was also in charge of the third workshop, which aimed to raise participants’ awareness of the importance of being prepared for different reception situations. This is one of the most important aspects of the day-to-day running of any tourism business. Professionals had the opportunity to learn about the different techniques of welcoming and adapting them to the different places likely to receive tourists, such as airports, hotels, travel agencies, coaches, etc.
The fourth workshop focused on social networking trends in tourism. Marine Di Palma, a senior digital marketing consultant, presented the social networks that provide real visibility for SMEs in the tourism sector. She also gave a number of tips to ensure competitive positioning of structures.
The fifth workshop, entitled Barista & Coffee Mixology, was led byYouness EL IDRISSI, an expert in the art of coffee. The aim of the workshop is to work with restaurateurs on different coffee-based preparations and consolidate their knowledge of coffee, including the different bean varieties, roasting and preparation methods, and latte art techniques.
The outcome of this first training cycle is more than positive, as all participants have given very positive feedback on the workshops, in terms of skills acquired, productivity gains and a sense of a job well done. They emphasized the expertise of the lecturers, the opportunity to apply the skills acquired in the context of their work, and the opportunity provided by these training courses for professionals to exchange best practices.
